If you play any golf at all then you are well aware that to have a good swing it really takes constant practice. There are those few individuals that are somehow are able to just pick up a golf club and produce a perfect golf swing that has both power and distance and they never practice, how great would that be. But for the rest of us in addition to the constant practice we must do our bodies also need to be well tuned in order for you to perform well and help your golf swing.
In order for your body to perform the way you want it to you will have to exercise your lower, core and upper parts of your body, they all need to be tuned to work together during a golf swing. It is true that all the power that you want for your golf swing comes from your body, and it is through training and exercise that you will achieve optimal performance.
When you are training and exercising specifically for your golf swing your confidence will also improve, you will enjoy every round of golf you play just a little bit more. You will enjoy it more because you will actually be hitting the ball better with you improved golf swing. Because you are hitting the ball better you will more than likely be hitting the ball straighter, further and with much less effort than you did before.
One of the best exercises and training you can do for your golf swing that improves you lower, core and upper body in one is the lung and twist exercise. To do it you will need a weighted medicine ball, but a single dumbbell will work just as well. Here's how it goes;
You stand in an upward position with your arms straight, holding the dumbbell or medicine ball down in front of you. You step of lung forward with one leg, as you step you rotate your upper body to the same side while holding the dumbbell or medicine ball chest high the entire time. Next, you return to your starting position and do the opposite leg. That's pretty much it, you just repeat each side 10 times or so in sets of 3. Believe me you will feel that pain but once it's gone, it is all good for your swing.
Having a regular set of routine exercises that you do for overall body strengthening and toning is also recommended to keep your golf swing where you want it to be. Exercising 3 to 4 days per week will keep you right in the zone, physically for your golf swing. I sure wish that was truly all one had to do to achieve a great golf swing, unfortunately for me it is not.
There is also the mental side of the golf swing that can really get in the way. Having the mental confidence each time you make a golf swing can really mean the difference between success and failure. Your mental attitude must remain positive at all times while your playing golf which can be especially difficult under any kind of pressure. If you are truly serious about working on your mental game then your mental imagery will one you will want to master.
How you imaging yourself during your golf swing, your mental toughness, your mental confidence all directly effect every aspect of your entire golf game. It is very important that you merge the best type from each mental imagery into your mental golf swing training. Once you are able to establish this framework in your mental game training you will be able to tap into your full potential.

There is no time limit, it will take however long it takes to achieve the golf swing you desire. But if the game of golf means as much to you as it does to me, then you will take the improvements you achieve as you are training and practicing, your golf swing will slowly become the golf swing you can depend on, time in and time out.
